Retirement is such a great time of our lives and I can certainly refer to it as retirement bliss. No longer do I have the routine of the daily grind, going to the office and wading through countless emails, many which were FYI (for my information only). It seems there is a great amount of FYI going on these days. When I remember back to working in the 1980’s for the public service every piece of information was by “snail” mail. It had to be shared and this did not happen quickly. There were even occasions when some employees thought that they were intentionally being kept out of the loop. But today no one is out of the loop. We are all in the loop and drowning in information overload.
Now that I am retired I have a very efficient way of reading my emails. It goes like this; click on email and then click on delete button. Not that I do this to emails from my family and friends however I find that most of my emails are FYI. I have discovered that all the FYI does not add value to my life and therefore the delete button has become almost my favourite button on the keyboard. If you are a regular reader of “scattered straws” you may have wondered why I have been tardy lately with posts on my blog. The reason being that I have been enjoying retirement bliss – but the problem lately is that I have been blissfully busy! Too many scattered straws!!
My “One & Only” (O&O) and I have been away on a little break; I have been to a High School Reunion (most girls looked the same even after 50 years); and written a book on the Princess Chickens. As part of a royal line it was only right that they should have their own biography written by their lady-in-waiting. The book was dedicated to Georgia. More about the Princesses in another post very soooon.
